THE FOUNDER
The desire to create something beautiful was always there.
It just took me a while to find my way back to it.
I grew up in Shanghai.
When I was eleven or twelve, I made myself a little book by stapling sheets of paper together and filled every page with dresses I had designed.
I didn't become a fashion designer.
I chased chemistry instead, all the way to the United States. I went to graduate school thinking I might one day become a perfumer, fascinated by the idea that science and artistry could exist in the same creation.
Life had other plans.
My career eventually took me into technology and enterprise business. I loved the people, the ideas, and the pursuit of building something. But the artistic part of me remained somewhere in the background.
Then, during COVID, I lost my cousin.
We had grown up together. She was more like a sister to me than a cousin. Losing her changed the way I thought about time, and about the story I wanted my own life to tell.
I began asking myself questions I had been too busy to ask before.
What would I regret never doing?
What am I unusually good at?
What do I actually love?
The answers kept coming back to two things.
Art and people.
Years later, Teeny Atelier began with something much smaller: a drawing by my son.
I wanted to transform one of his drawings into something I would truly want to wear, not simply for its sentimental value, but as a beautiful jewel in its own right.
What I found was mostly literal: a child’s lines traced in gold. What I imagined was something entirely different: the emotion of a child’s drawing, reinterpreted through the materials, craftsmanship and artistry of fine jewelry.
I couldn't find it.
So I decided to create it.
I began searching for artisans around the world who could translate these deeply personal ideas into jewelry with the materials, techniques and level of craftsmanship I envisioned.
And somewhere along the way, I realized that this wasn't only about preserving my son's drawings.
It was about people.
The tiny things we remember about someone. The things they love. The stories we share. The inside jokes no one else understands. The moments that seem ordinary until, one day, they aren't.
I've always been told I have an eye for beautiful things. Teeny Atelier is my way of putting that eye to work for other people.
